Friends, or even those who thought they might have been my enemies:
there is nothing funny going on at The (world famous) Laugh Factory tonight. This is the second (2nd) of two (2) times that, after standing in line for three hours to get up number thirteen a week later, after verifying tonight’s event before inviting the whole world and God, The Laugh Factory leaves me a very unfunny voice message
“tonight’s performance has been postponed to the 14th or the 21st, whichever is more convenient for you.”
Don’t let me get started on this one. This is embarrassing — again. The most difficult thing about doing standup, I am finding, is having to deal with the incompetence and insensitivity of the people who run the show. Yeah, standing up in front of an audience of strangers is tough, but dealing with imbecils is even harder.
But this is not a love contest. This is about making money. I must love them anyway. I must forgive them, for they know now what they do. I wouldn’t blame anyone if they never show up again at the (world famous) Laugh Factory. But it’s the performers and the audience who suffer. Those running the show don’t care. They don’t have to. They are at the (world famous) Laugh Factory, and they’d rather be home, watching TV. Sadly, the Laudh Factory is not the best venue in town and the world knows it. I guess I’ll go back over to Hollywood Improv, try my chances there tonight.
There still is one life and this life is God. He has just chosen another direction for me. I accept His decision and point my nose in His direction. I embrace this, give thanks the world may be going insane, but I AM NOT!
I let it go, forget the short nap I was going to take, and go to Hollywood Improv, after which
I GIVE THANKS.
And so it is.
God bless and thank you, whether you intended to support me or not!
