Optimismus — Press On — Annette Hochfeld

This is a translation from Annette Hochfeld’s father.

Optimism is the teaching of hope, friendship, efficiency, and progress. Promise yourself to be strong enough that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. In other words:

MENSCH, ÄRGERE DICH NICHT!

Man, don’t get upset.

That’s a big calling, but…

Speak about health, happiness, prosperity to all persons you meet. Awaken in each one of your friends the feeling of self worth. See everything on the sunny side, with the glass half full rather than half empty. Only think of what is best, work for the best, expect the best. Rejoice with equally great enthusiasm the success of others as your own good fortune. Forget past mistakes, and only press forward to improve future achievements. Devote so much of your time to your own pursuits that you have no time left to criticize others. Be too great for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy in general to allow anything to upset your peace of mind.

Now, to put this into practice, one step at a time.
